Speech sounds are the sounds we use to form words and communicate with others. Some children may have difficulty producing certain sounds clearly or may change sounds in words, which can make them harder to understand.

We can assess and support speech sound difficulties to help children develop clearer, more confident speech and improve how easily they are understood by others.

Language is how we understand and use words to share our thoughts, ideas, needs and feelings. Some children may have difficulty understanding what others are saying, expressing themselves, finding the right words or putting words and sentences together.

We can assess and support a range of language difficulties, including late talking, language delays and language disorders, helping children develop the skills they need to communicate with confidence.

We also work closely with parents and caregivers, providing practical strategies and support to help build language skills in everyday routines at home.

Stuttering is a difference in the flow of speech that can include repeating sounds or words, stretching sounds, or getting stuck or pausing while speaking. Stuttering is a natural part of communication for many children, and it can vary depending on the situation, how a child is feeling and what they are trying to say.

We provide assessment and support for children who stutter, using an individualised, evidence-based approach that considers each child and family's needs. Where appropriate, we use the Lidcombe Program, a well-researched early intervention approach that supports parents and caregivers to help improve the fluency of speech.

School readiness includes the communication, language and early literacy skills children need to feel confident as they transition to school. Phonological awareness and pre-literacy skills are important foundations for learning to read and write.

We support children to develop skills such as recognising and playing with sounds in words, rhyming, syllable awareness, identifying and manipulating sounds, letter–sound knowledge, and early reading and writing skills.

Through fun, engaging and evidenced based activities, we help children build the skills and confidence they need to start school ready to learn and communicate.

Social communication is how we connect, interact and share ideas with others. Every child has their own unique way of communicating, and differences in social communication are a natural part of neurodiversity.

We support children to develop communication skills in ways that respect their individual communication style, strengths and preferences. This may include supporting skills such as conversation, turn-taking, expressing needs and ideas, understanding different perspectives, navigating social situations, play and building confidence when communicating with others.

Our goal is not to change who a child is, but to support meaningful connection, self-advocacy and confidence across everyday environments such as home, school and the community.
